"Each track on this new release features a randomly assembled quartet or trio subset of the seventeen-member collective creating sound portraits of the following disorders: Delerium, Pica, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Depression, Tourette Syndrome, Cymophobia, Sleep Terror Disorder, Narcolepsy, Catatonic Schizophrenia and Trichotillomania. The results make for intriguing if sometimes difficult listening, as could be expected from the source material."
Recorded live at the Dress Barn in Rochester, NY by Martin Freeman, this album embodies the spectrum of emotions a Torus show can cover. From frenetic tension to lush atmospheres, the trio of John Horner (Bass), R. Scott Oliver (Guitar) and Ariel Cruz (Drums) work effortlessly together, pushing and pulling one another through an expansive, manic, landscape. While the central pieces here unfold cinematically from a rippling calmness that swells to an energetic climax, the contrasting ethereal third track (excerpt featured below) demonstrates the bands depth by means of their restraint.
Torus Live (ONR010) is limited to an edition of 50 hand assembled packages available here or at any Torus show.
